Scientology and Human Rights

Here's another look at the new Scientology Church in London, which will be the emanation point for all of the Human Rights campaigns in the UK. 

"This new church packs the full body of L Ron Hubbard's technologies as derived from the greater well of Scientology knowledge," said Mr. David Miscavige, “and, as such, it provides the full gamut of Scientology activities for the betterment of mankind."

Seeing as though some of the most major human rights campaigns get launched out of the Churches of Scientology in the UK, it's fitting I mention a spectacular grand opening just held of the Church of Scientology of London, on Queen Victoria Street in Downtown London.  The Scientology Church in London -- the oldest Church of Scientology in the UK has been at its Tottenham Ct. location for the last 38 years, but due to membership increasing in recent years, it was neccesary for the Church to get larger quarters.

The typical London rain at the opening didn't seem to dampen anybody's spirits, as the people in London were extremely enthused about the new church and what it means for Scientology in the United Kingdom, and all of the church's programs there.  

Per the article posted on the Scientology London website (newly designed, very nice), Mr. David Miscavige was the keynote speaker at the event, which apparently had something like 3-4 thousand people attending.  

Scientologists in New Zealand have been increasingly effective in reaching out into their community to cause to major positive changes, especially in a scourge which has been hitting the country in the way of drugs.  

Though it is one of the most beautiful places on earth (a cursory search for images revealed the nifty one you see on this page), the country is not without the same problems as any other country, including massive problems with drugs, as well as the attendent violence and crime.   Now, if you were at the Celebrity Centre Gala in 2004 or at the Church of Scientology of Buffalo Grand Opening (like I was, luckily enough), you would have heard Mr. David Miscavige speak about the strenuous work that Scientologists are putting in on the anti-drug front, with drug education, drug prevention, and drug rehabilitation high on the list of things active Scientologists are engaged in -- not only "engaged in" though, but actually effective at.

Scientologists from the Church of Scientology of Frankfurt join the German Chapter of Youth for Human Rights International in a march through the streets of their city to promote human rights education.

World War I was so savage and brutal it was named the “war to end all wars." Yet a mere twenty years later the world was once again embroiled in global conflict. And in the name of preventing a reoccurrence of the infamous atrocities of World War II, in 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was born, in the realization that — recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.”

But almost 60 years after the Universal Declaration was adopted by the member states of the United Nations, a brief glance at the news demonstrates the harsh truth — that the implementation of the human rights, laid out in this document and its European counterpart, the European Convention on Human Rights, has not been accomplished.

And what could be more pertinent now, when there is such a new crisis going on? It once again comes down to man's respect for himself and for his fellows, and applying that truthfully in life -- not just in rhretoric.

I once attended a talk by Mr. David Miscavige in Buffalo, at that Church of Scientology's grand opening, and there it became abundantly clear that one of the key elements to having peace is by getting people to simply agree on some basic rights that they all have, and then make those become a fact. People have a right to their own lives and their own posessions, so why would any country belligerantly challenge this? There is always something that can be done about such things, and the answer in this case is not more fighting, but plain, simple communication.

The Church of Scientology of Moscow joined the local chapter of Youth for Human Rights International and the Moscow government in organizing the 26th annual International Marathon for Peace. Human rights was a major topic covered by Mr. David Miscavige in his talks to world celebrities and leaders , and in subsequent presentations since. It's a major factor of what Scientologists do, in terms of ensuring Human Rights are available for all -- not just for people of the Scientology Religion, but for all religions.

 

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour working with the Suva, Fiji soccer team to help them improve their reaction time, have fewer accidents and make speedier recoveries from injuries.

Ever since 2004, after Mr. David Miscavige went over the actions the Scientology Volunteer Ministers have been taking in his incredible This is Scientology address, Scientology Volunteer Ministers have been touring the world, in remote locations such as Fiji.  

Here's one interesting anecdote I got from ScientologyToday :  

When the Suva Minister of Sports learned that Dianetics technology could help the members of the Suva Soccer team improve their reaction time, have fewer accidents and make speedier recoveries from injuries, the he was very interested.  In fact, he told the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour, "Suva is my team, help them!"

I'm especially proud of Scientologists in Brussels who are doing their part to get the message out on our fight against drugs. I'm hoping this is the sort of thing that goes on in all cities, as with a person-to-person message on drugs (as I heard a speaker talk about at an event) this is something that will turn around the drug scene for real.

India is a perplexing country to some, myself included.

Here is a country which suffers from poverty, from unreal third-world conditions and human rights violations for a large majority of its population, and is a country stuffed with over a billion people.  See photos of their most major cities, and with the exception of a few, they pale in aesthetics and engineering to many other world cities like Hong Kong and New York City.

However, in and amongst all that are millions upon millions of some of the most brilliant people on earth.  Here is a country filled with absurd amounts of talent and thinking men & women — and not just in the area of computer, network, civil and electrical engineering either.  These are luminary philosophers, brilliant movie makers and writers, etc.

With all that, what technology does India then need to move it forward?  In some countries one could argue that it’s cell phones, or perhaps automobiles.  Perhaps it’s a better flu medication or a better way to fix a broken leg, or maybe it’s how to build massive public transportation infrastructures that can alleviate the quality of living & working in crowded cities like Mumbai or Kolkata.

However, it’s not just a random engineer that’s going to hand someone a Nokia or a Toyota Prius hybrid and solve the whole thing.  It’s individual Indians being made more able so they can then lead others, and make their own individual lives better for whatever they need to improve in their lives.

In some cases, what’s missing is effective education.  As Mr. David Miscavige pointed out in his Grand Opening speech at the Church of Scientology of New York, it’s the technology of education itself that is many times missing, and is what is provided by the study technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard.

Other times, it’s the exact technology of how to get someone off drugs, and even keep them from taking them in the first place.   Again, articulated in his This is Scientology presentation at the Celebrity Centre Gala, one thing that Scientology is known for is the fact that Scientologists do have the beat down on how to get people off drugs, routinely and effectively - quite in addition to having the largest drug-prevention campaign in the world.

With thousands of books sold during the 9 days of the Delhi Book Fair that just ended, and new distributorships on the horizon, the launch of books by L. Ron Hubbard in the Hindi language was a major accomplishment.

When you’ve got something you just hope works, or that you plead with the nearest divine entity to make work, or that works every so often but you don’t know why, that’s not technology - that’s luck.  However, anything that can have an exact technique, and exact procedures by which you go about something which then produces an intended result, that’s where you get actual technology - and in this case the technologies of Scientology in the realm of education, drug prevention, and the simple technologies the Scientology Volunteer Ministers use to be able to bring calm to an area hit by disaster — these are technologies which I would submit that India needs - as that helps the people themselves, who will then go on to bring change and improvements to the country.
